I Found an Egg! (Quadra, BC), Dani Gal / Bernhard Schreiner, 2020
"I Found an Egg! (Quadra, BC)" stems from a series of pieces produced by the artists Dani Gal and Bernhard Schreiner between Berlin and Frankfurt. All these works were developed during March and April while in Covid-19 lockdown, by sending sounds from the distance, allowing the other to make changes and send it back. In this case a recording from Dani Gal’s personal field-recording archive (recorded on Quadra Island in British Columbia) of chicken feeding, served as orientation for Schreiner’s lap-steel playing.

Scored performance of "Beach Boys House: Dirt Sounds," produced live in a foley manner using a leaf blower, toy drones, plants, wind chimes and other materials.
Comets and Stars, Barbara T. Smith/Joseph Byrd, 1969
First used in Smith’s performance "Weightless" in 1969 about the Apollo Moon landing and later during a dinner dedicated to the comet Kahoutek in her piece "Longest Day of Night," 1973.
“Long after midnight, we drove to the top or Mt. Wilson to try to see the comet along the low horizon. Turns out it had been snowing and it was wildly windy and cold. Far off we could not actually see Kahoutek, only dark clouds and a faint glow of dawn coming. But it was thrilling nonetheless.” BTS, 2020
